Akcela Ventures Incubator Community Code of Conduct 

 

  1. Introduction

Welcome to the Akcela Ventures incubator.  We’re thrilled to have you as part of our community of innovators and entrepreneurs. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards expected of everyone working in or visiting our shared office space. These guidelines aim to promote a productive, inclusive, and respectful environment for all. 

  1. Respect and inclusivity
  • Equal treatment: All members, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or religion, deserve respect and equal opportunity. 
  • Harassment-free environment: Harassment of any kind, including unwelcome comments or actions, is strictly prohibited. This includes offensive language, discriminatory remarks, or unwanted physical interaction. 
  • Zero tolerance for bullying: Any behaviour intended to intimidate, demean, or otherwise negatively impact others is unacceptable. 
  1. Professionalism and integrity
  • Conduct: Treat your fellow members and the incubator staff with professionalism and courtesy at all times. 
  • Honesty and transparency: Be truthful in your interactions and transparent in your dealings with other community members and staff. 
  • Compliance with Laws and Policies: Abide by all applicable laws, including those related to intellectual property, privacy, and business conduct, as well as the incubator’s policies. 
  1. Workspace etiquette
  • Respect shared spaces: Clean up after yourself, avoid disruptive noise, and refrain from using others’ property or workspace without permission. 
  • Meeting spaces: Book meeting rooms in advance, start and end meetings on time, and leave rooms in a tidy condition. 
  • Technology usage: Limit personal use of shared office resources, including wi-fi, printers, and office supplies, and ensure that all devices are used safely and responsibly. 
  1. Confidentiality and Privacy
  • Respect confidentiality: Do not discuss, share, or disclose confidential information about other members’ projects or ideas without consent. 
  • Secure work practices: Lock your screens when away from your desk, and avoid leaving sensitive documents in shared spaces. 
  • Data privacy: Be cautious with data and respect others’ privacy in both verbal and digital communication. 
  1. Health and Safety
  • Maintain a safe environment: Follow health and safety regulations, including emergency procedures, and report any hazards or unsafe practices to staff. 
  • Cleanliness and hygiene: Maintain personal and workspace hygiene. If you’re unwell, please stay home to avoid spreading illness. 
  • Equipment and furniture: Handle all equipment and office furniture responsibly and report any malfunctions or damage. 
  1. Collaboration and community engagement
  • Encourage Collaboration: Foster a spirit of teamwork and openness, supporting each other’s growth and success. 
  • Constructive feedback: When giving feedback to other members, do so respectfully and constructively. 
  • Participate in events: Engage in incubator events, workshops, and networking sessions to contribute to the incubator’s community. 
  1. Breach of Conduct

Violations of this Code of Conduct will be reviewed by the Akcela Ventures management team. Consequences may include warnings, loss of access to the workspace, or termination of your incubator membership, depending on the severity of the breach.
