Matt was recently featured in the EDP on his upcoming sponsored walk alongside Ed Bates for Vision Norfolk. The pair will be raising money for the Great Yarmouth hub of the charity. The soon to open hub will see Ed take on his role as co-ordinator for the charity there.
Speaking to the EDP, Matt explained “Since [my time at university] I have always followed blind football and visually-impaired athletes at the Paralympics, so I thought I should take the step and become a volunteer to support Vision Norfolk, which does so much to help visually-impaired people lead independent and fulfilled lives in the county.”
During the 50km walk, Matt will be acting as Ed’s guide, something that until training started. Matt has no experience in. Ed didn’t seem to worried about this though, when speaking to the EDP. Focusing on the challenges that such a distance would have over Matt’s capabilities. “Walking this distance is a challenge for anybody, so it will be daunting for Matt to do this as his first guiding task, He has been quick to pick up the guiding techniques, and I have absolute confidence in him as a guide already.”
