We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Vodafone Business Champion Award for 2022. The award set out to “identify, reward and showcase a small business that has overcome challenges in the past year, been an inspiration to others and is encouraging the next generation of business owners.”
The award was accepted by members of the Akcela Incubator management team at the Wasps End of Season Awards, which was hosted by Kirsty Gallagher and David Flatman and attended by members of the Wasps men, women and netball team, as well as a host of specially invited guests.
Speaking on the award, Akcela managing director James Adams was delighted with the honour. “I’ll hopefully say now, what I think I was trying to say when collecting the award on the evening. To be recognised at a national level, with the calibre of other nominees, with the plethora of businesses throughout the UK, who have achieved so much to support the next generation of business owners through a pandemic and huge economic uncertainty, is truly an honour. We would like to thank all of the team at Vodafone Business for taking the time to review what we’ve been up to and ultimately honouring us with this award.”
With the recent announcement of Tom Wood as a member of the Akcela Incubator board, as well as becoming part of the EDP Future 50 in January – James and the team are focussed on delivering more opportunity and support for startup businesses throughout the East of England.
“We have always been an action-orientated organisation, I hope that is clear from what we have achieved in the time we have been supporting businesses, including housing businesses that bought in over £1,000,000 of investment to the region in the past 5 months. We are looking forward to more announcements on how we will be doing that, as we continue to scale our offer, but more importantly, driving opportunity and outcomes for the businesses we are here to support.”
