These terms and conditions set out the rules for using the Akcela website and the Akcela Startup Funding Portal. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using our services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the portal.
The website akcela.co.uk and the Akcela Startup Funding Portal are operated by Akcela Ventures Ltd (Company No. 13413863), whose registered address is Fuel Studios, Pottergate, Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 1DX. In these terms, “Akcela”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Akcela Ventures Ltd. “You” and “your” refer to the person or organisation using our services.
By registering for an account, accessing, or using the Akcela Startup Funding Portal, you confirm that you accept these terms and that you agree to comply with them. These terms apply alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data.
To register for the Funding Portal you must be at least 18 years old and have the authority to act on behalf of the startup or organisation you represent. The portal is intended for founders and businesses based in the East of England. We may decline or close accounts that do not meet these criteria, and account approval is at our discretion.
The Akcela Startup Funding Portal helps match East of England startups with grants, funding opportunities, events, support programmes, and, where access is granted, investor groups. The portal is an information and matching service. We do not provide, award, or guarantee any grant, investment, or funding, and a match or recommendation is not an offer of funding or a promise that you will be successful.
Information about grants, events, offers, and investors is drawn from third-party sources and may change. While we take care to keep it accurate, we cannot guarantee that every detail, deadline, or eligibility requirement is correct or current. Always check the terms directly with the relevant provider before you apply.
When using the portal, you agree not to:
You keep ownership of the information, documents, and other materials you submit to the portal. By submitting them, you grant us a licence to use, store, and process that material so we can operate the service, match you with relevant opportunities, and, where you have consented, share it with partners or investors. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to share anything you upload and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.
The Akcela website, the Funding Portal, and all related content, branding, logos, and software are owned by or licensed to Akcela Ventures Ltd and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may use them only as needed to access the service for its intended purpose. You must not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our written permission.
The portal links to and relies on third-party services, including grant providers, event organisers, investor groups, Companies House, and Postcode.io. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, or practices of any third party. Following a link or applying to a third party is at your own risk, and their own terms and privacy policies will apply.
We aim to keep the portal available and working well, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or secure at all times. We may suspend, withdraw, change, or restrict all or part of the service for maintenance, improvements, or other operational reasons, and we will try to give reasonable notice where we can.
Content on the portal, including matches, recommendations, and guides, is provided for general information only. It is not legal, financial, tax, or investment advice and should not be relied on as such. You should take your own professional advice before making decisions about funding, investment, or your business.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the portal, or from your reliance on any content or match it provides.
We process your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. It explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under UK GDPR.
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if your account is inactive for a long period, or if we reasonably need to for legal, security, or operational reasons. When an account is closed, your right to use the portal ends, though some provisions, such as those on intellectual property and liability, will continue to apply.
We may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. If you continue to use the portal after we publish changes, you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to them or to your use of the portal will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
