2021 was an exciting year for the Akcela incubator, as we recently discussed in the roundup of the year post. Whilst we are extremely proud of what we have achieved, we are also excited to move forward and continue momentum.
Readingmate New Starters
The community grew with Readingmate welcoming three full time starters into the company. Co-Founder Hannah Rix has now moved to join the team full time, with Laura Tusting joining as School Partnership Manager and Yasmin Wanas joining as Digital Marketing specialist. It’s a pleasure to welcome them all to the community and we cannot wait to see how Readingmate continues to grow.

Emergence Consulting
Dr Anna Watson joins the community with Emergence Consulting. Emergence consulting is focussed on producing research, engaging stakeholders and designing workshops for organisations building the low carbon future. Their recent projects include ‘Scaling EVs: An open conversation about the key challenges’, Octopus Electric Vehicles at COP26. Net Zero Innovation Programme, UCL & Local Government Association and the #BuildingLife campaign, World Green Building Council.
Origin Hope
Origin Hope is a media creation company utilising a unique intersection of AI alongside a global network of copy writers, editors, and creatives to deliver scalable and high-quality media coverage. Newfangled Games
Newfangled Games brings together co-founders and brothers Henry Hoffman and Fred Hoffman as they embark on their first production together. Paper Trail has already begun to gain traction, winning the ‘Most Innovative’ award at the recent IndieX awards. We cannot wait to welcome the team to the community as they get ever closer to release.

Games Vault
Games Vault is a web3 based gaming platform that utilises NFT’s built on the Polygon network to allow gamers, and publishers the capability to create not only a gaming shop platform, but also a secondary market for games, utilising the NFT as proof of ownership. Games Vault has won ‘Best us of existing subgraphs of the sponsors’, ‘Textile Pool Prize’, ‘Protocols Labs Grand Prize Winner’, ‘Protocol Labs Pool Prize’ and ‘Unlock Protocol Pool Prize’ at HackFS 2021.
Tech Educators
We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting coding bootcamps, right here in the heart of Norwich City via Tech Educators. They will be offering foundational web3 and full MERN stack courses over the course of the year. A truly exciting addition to the community as we continue to build and develop capability that is required for future builders of great companies and a way to support the existing tech eco-system right here throughout Norwich, Norfolk and beyond.
